I started this post in August 2019. Rather than creating new posts, I’m going to update this one each month with what people are looking at on my site.
5… Low Tide at Perranporth
The first of two new entries into this list and a surprising one. This is one of my favourite landscape images so I’m not surprised about that. I’m surprised because it hasn’t been on the list before but in November, it suddenly became popular. Taken in late spring (roughly early June), I was hesitant to take a sunset shot facing the sunlight but after fiddling around in Photoshop, produced this.
4. Bee on Sunflower
All my top 5 of the month lists have featured a bee photo but this is the first time this image has appeared. I took some incredible bee images this year at various events but this must be my favourite. I didn’t have to go anywhere special for it either, it was on our balcony which my partner loves to fill with insect-attracting flowers.
3… Beach Huts at Swanpool
Taken in June 2019 on a bright sunny day where my polarising filter got its first real test, I was pleased with the results as you can see with the striking Cornish seaside colours of these huts lined up along Swanpool beach. There is a long waiting list for what is essentially a shed on the beach, and I understand they cost £1,000 per year to hire, but aren’t they pretty?
2… Grand Harbour By Night
Taken in mid-September while on holiday in Malta during a nighttime harbour cruise. I wasn’t expecting much because of the limits of my camera, but some of the results were pleasantly surprising. It was my top performer for September despite being only on the site about 10 days. It’s been a consistent performer ever since. I also have a colour version of this, but the B&W is the popular one.
1… Rolling Waves
I love this deep blue sea and rolling wave. Taken at St Ives “down west”. You’d be forgiven for thinking this was taken on a bright Cornish summer day, but it wasn’t. It was taken on a bright and chilly day in mid-February 2019. It was seasonably mild with a little chill in the air but the sea was this gorgeous deep blue. There were surfers around and about. I got some images of those too.
